I provide individualised care for people struggling with:
Perimenopause & Menopause
Perimenopause and menopause bring challenges such as changes in weight, shape, mood, and appetite. These changes can affect body image and lead to psychological distress. This often results in restrictive diets, however cutting calories can worsen issues like muscle loss, bone health and a slower metabolism.
Understanding how restrictive diets can actually harm hormonal balance and metabolism can help shift to a positive mindset around food and nutrition.
Learn how to eat well to preserve lean mass, improve bone health and support healthy metabolism and digestion. Individual nutrition counselling can also help to alleviate some of the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. Read more here. (?? Link to long form)
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and insulin resistance can present significant challenges related to weight, appetite and eating behaviours.
Many health professionals continue to recommend weight loss, however, for people with PCOS dieting can result in appetite dysregulation, unhealthy eating habits, binge eating, and long-term weight gain.
Understanding how hormones influence weight, nutrition, appetite and health can be empowering. Learning how eat in a nourishing sustainable way can help regulate appetite, stabilise weight, improve insulin sensitivity and support metabolism.
PCOS and insulin resistance do not have to mean a life of dieting and food deprivation. Embrace a new approach that supports mental and physical health leading to better hormonal balance.
Eating disorders
Eating disorders are complex mental illnesses that affect every part of life. While they are incredibly harmful and devastating, they also help you to cope in certain ways. I understand how difficult it can be to seek treatment, but please remember that you are always in control of your own care.
I work with people struggling with
Anorexia Nervosa (AN)
Bulimia Nervosa (BN)
Binge Eating Disorder (BED)
Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED)
The first step is to come for an appointment and just have a conversation. We can learn about one another and discuss what working together would look like and what is important to you.
Disordered eating habits
Many factors contribute to disordered eating habits including diet culture, dieting, neurodivergence, and personality traits like perfectionism. Conflicting nutrition messages and social media can also play a role.
I work with people struggling with:
Under and overeating
Binge eating
Emotional or comfort eating
Yoyo dieting
Stress around food and eating
Body image concerns
An unhealthy relationship with food, body and movement
By fostering a positive mindset and learning how to nourish your body, you can develop a healthier more enjoyable relationship with food and your body.
Weight concerns
Let me clarify that I work every day with people who want to lose weight and I am certainly not against weight loss when it results from positive, health-focused behaviour change. What I do not support is making weight loss the goal of treatment or promoting restrictive diets for weight loss.
Weight is not a reliable indicator of health, and is influenced by many factors beyond eating and exercise. A weight-centric approach often ignores mental health, leads to unsustainable changes and promotes weight stigma.
Dieting most commonly results in weight loss followed by long-term weight gain and poorer body image. It can cause muscle loss, slower metabolism, disordered eating habits and eating disorders.
I offer a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between your weight, eating and health, This can spark a significant shift in mindset and a new approach to eating. When we align eating with your bodies unique needs to provide both enjoyment and nourishment your body can find its natural set point.
